Community Involvement:
Ultra achievement I am most proud of: FANS24. It was
pouring rain with lightning and I almost left and went home before the race started, but I stayed and completed 27.4 miles in very tough conditions for me, as I have arthritis and can’t tolerate being wet and cold. Ultras I haven't done but really want to: Javelina Jundred, 3
Days at the Fair, pretty much any warmish 24 hr. race on a looped course Typical training week: Run on an indoor
track 1-2 hours per day, 5 days a week. Injury history: I mostly get injured
doing gardening or snow shovelling. Favorite ultra foods: Grilled Cheese
Favorite ultra beverages: any energy drink, Coke, oj
Things I like most about ultras: Watching the day turn
into night, and staying up all night to see the sun rise. Things I hate most about ultras: Arthritic feet get
sore. What got me started doing ultras: Started reading about
ultras and found them all very interesting. I know I am not fast enough to make the cutoff for a 50 or 100 mile race, but I have worked 12 hr. night shifts after HM’s and a marathon, so I knew that I would be able to do a timed ultra. Ultrarunning heroes:
