2023 IAU 50km World Championships Results

The 4th edition of the 50km World Championships was held on 5 November 2023 in Hyderabad, India on a 5km loop road course in hot and humid conditions.

Our 4 member team, including Scott Cooper (AB), Heidi Frehlich (AB), Gina Tranquada (MB) and Emily James (AB) faced incredible challenges in getting to the event, due to geopolitical issues causing Canadians to be unable to apply for visas. Special exemption visas were obtained, but at such late notice that Gina and Emily had already made the difficult decision to withdraw from the team. Once in India, both our athletes suffered with serious food-related issues, but showed grit and determination in toeing the start line to proudly represent Canada.
